The cost of implants varies dramatically based on the number of implants you need and their quality. The type of material used in the restoration will also affect the price.

If you're ready to clear away the confusion surrounding pricing, we suggest requesting a consultation with Dr. Cushman at Atlanta West Periodontics & Dental Implants in Lithia Springs, GA. What Is a Dental Implant?

If you envision a complete tooth, the dental implant is the equivalent of the tooth root. This artificial "tooth root" is a screw-like post that is surgically placed in the jawbone. To recreate an entire tooth, an artificial tooth (often called a "crown") is attached to the implant using a connector piece called an abutment.

In addition to single teeth, dental implants can also support dental bridges and dentures.

Dr. Cushman is experienced in working with both titanium and zirconia implants, which allows her to offer the very best implant to meet each patient's unique needs.

Replacing Missing Teeth Implants Support a Variety of Restorations

When paired with restorations, dental implants can restore your smile and give you a functional bite. Most people discover it's almost as if they never lost their natural teeth.
Implant crown

Single Tooth

A single implant and custom dental crown replace a tooth from top to root. A major advantage of this method is that nearby teeth do not need to be altered to support a replacement tooth.

Implant bridge

Row of Teeth

If you are missing a row of teeth, an implant-supported bridge will restore your smile without having to reshape two otherwise healthy teeth to support both ends of a dental bridge.

Implant denture

Multiple implants can be used to support an entire denture. Once secured to implants, these dentures will never slip and the implants will help avoid the bone loss that occurs with missing teeth.

Dr. Cushman is one of my favorite people now. Her staff is awesome too. I had a root scaling and planing done a few months ago. This procedure takes at least 4 visits and Dr. Cushman informed me that it is possible to complete in one visit. On my second visit I had a cleaning and a periodontal splint put on.

Providing a blanket and lavender scented mask for the procedure almost made me sleepy. Thanks Dr Cushman.. I'm so happy I found your office!

A Closer Look at Dental Implants ...

Dental implants excel at offering the most tooth-like restoration possible. Whether you need a single tooth or a denture, dental implants can support a variety of natural-looking restorations that are both durable and beautiful.

Treatment Timeline For Dental Implants

In order to create a healthy environment for implants, some patients require specialized treatments such as bone grafts, sinus lifts, or treatment for periodontal disease. Unlike general dentists, Dr. Cushman is experienced in performing advanced preparatory techniques, including vertical sinus lifts, to meet patients' needs in-office. Each patient's treatment is unique, but in general, implant treatment follows these steps:

If you have difficulty sitting for long periods or are anxious about treatment, we might recommend sedation dentistry.
If you have difficulty sitting for long periods or are anxious about treatment, we might recommend sedation dentistry.

Dr. Cushman will create 3-D images of your jaw to determine the ideal placement for your dental implants and also look for indications of bone recession in the jaw. If you need an extraction and have sufficient bone density, we may be able to extract teeth and place implants in the same appointment.

Implant Placement

Once any preparatory steps have been completed and the dental procedure is mapped out, the implants can be placed. Dr. Cushman will numb the treatment area and, if needed, offer sedation options. Once you are comfortable, she will place the implants through small incisions in the gums. While titanium is the most common implant material, Dr. Cushman is also trained to place zirconia implants.

It takes between three and six months for the implants to fuse with the bone, a step called osseointegration, which allows your titanium or zirconia implant to function like a tooth root.

Abutment Placement

Once the implant is securely fused with the jaw, the abutment will be attached. It takes just a couple of weeks to heal from this minor surgery.

Restoration Placement

At this point, your general dentist takes over and will attach your restoration to the abutment, restoring your smile and giving you a functional bite that will serve you for years to come.
